Answers to the most common questions can be found below, however if you would like to ask a more specific question please email racedirector@theboltonblast.co.uk and one of our team will respond as soon as possible (usually within a few hours but please allow up to 48 hours).
Event 1 is 1st October 2023
Event 2 is 15th February 2024
Event 3 is 24th March 2024
The race will be centred around Turton Sports Centre, Bolton.
Event 1 is a 400m swim and a 5k run
Event 2 is a 600m swim and an 8k run
Event 3 is a 800m swim and a 10k run
Individual entry for each race: £35 (including a £5 donation to Bolton Hospice and a bespoke quality finishers medal).
Relay entry for each race is £45 (including a £5 donation to Bolton Hospice and x 2 bespoke quality finishers medals).
Event t-shirts are also available to add to your entry cost at a price of £6 per t-shirt.
Entry to all three events is available as follows:
Individual entry: £95
Team entry: £125
The first swimmers will set off at 2pm. Swim start times will be available on the website in advance of the event.
Swimmers – goggles are advisable and normal swimming kit is fine.
Runners – normal running gear is fine.
The swim will take place at Turton Sports Centre.
It is a 25 metre swimming pool.
No, it is a shallow end start so no diving is permitted. You will start in the water.
Any stroke except backstroke is permitted.
No, only front crawl and breaststroke are permitted during the swim.
If you are caught, please let the swimmer behind pass you when you reach the end of your length.
Yes.
Your time will be taken a couple of seconds after you get out of the pool when you pass the swim timing mat which will be located near to the exit door of the pool.
Yes, your time will start from when you push off from the side of the pool for your swim and finish when you cross the finish line, all the time you take inbetween is counted in your overall time.
There will be allocated space to leave equipment you may need for the run. Further details will be available in the pre-race information.
Relay teams will hand over the wrist band at the exit to the pool.
3.11 miles – this can take anything between 15 minutes to around 50 minutes to complete as a run.
For Event 1, the run course is mostly flat with one off-road climb at the 3.5k mark.
The winning teams in each category will receive a trophy, as will the fastest individual entrants in each category.
The provisional results will be available soon after the final person has finished in each race (Relay and Individual).

Yes, there are shower facilities available which you are able to use.
There will be drinks available on the run route and at the finish line.
