Swimmers
Swimmers will be seeded according to their swim time, with the slowest swimmers setting off first. This ensures that athletes are swimming with similar ability swimmers. The event will have waves of 12 swimmers starting together.
Each swimmer will be required to wear a swim cap (which will be provided) during the swim. Volunteers will count the number of lengths and indicate when the distance has been completed.
Event 1 swim is 16 lengths of the pool (400m)
Event 2 swim is 24 lengths of the pool (600m)
Event 3 swim is 32 lengths of the pool (800m)
Training
Beginners 400m Swim
In the lead up to the race, our coaching partners Peak XV Tri Coaching will be running swim sessions at Turton especially aimed at Bolton Blast competitors. When you register for the race you will be invited to join the mailing list and be kept informed of these exciting developments.
For those not able to attend these sessions we have put together a beginners swim training plan, written by specialist coaches to help you reach your goal.

The relay swimmers will need:
Swim wear
Goggles
Towel
We will be providing swim caps which must be worn during the swim. These are used by the lane counters to identify swimmers and to ensure that each swimmer completes the required distance.
Anti-fog spray is also useful to prevent your goggles steaming up once the race gets under way.
Solo competitors
Solo competitors can wear tri suits if they wish. Tri suits are designed to be worn through out the whole race thus saving time in the transition area.
If competitors wish to put additional clothes on such as t-shirts and shorts, then these should be left in the transition area. Any time spent getting changed is part of the overall time.
Number belts are also permitted but please make sure that the number is visible to time keepers through out the event. Numbers should be worn either on a t-shirt or a number belt at the front during the run.
